7 MYTHS ABOUT ACNE

Oily Skin

If you suffer from acne, you probably already know absolutely all the popular tips „for“and „against“ about how to deal with it. But let's see which are the most common myths.

The 7 most common myths about acne

1. Drying helps

Yes, it's great to have a tan. At least for a while your skin is even, without the unpleasant redness. But once you get your natural colour again, the pimples are back there. Even worsened. Because the drying of the skin, which the sun and the sunbeds cause, terribly damages its health.

What is more, UV rays cause pigment spots, premature agеing of the skin and even cancer. Always apply a suitable sunscreen product before sun exposure; the SPF factor must be high and the ingredients must be non-comedogenic.

2. Greasy, sweet, fried

A widespread myth is that certain foods lead to the occurrence and/or worsening of acne. However, this is not supported by scientific evidence. Not that eating chips, pizza and chocolate in excessive quantities can produce something good for your health, not at all.

So, eat what you desire, but with moderation. Avoid foods with a high glycemic index, as well as skimmed milk - they make acne worse, but do not cause it.

3. Bad hygiene

Acne is caused by sebum secretion combined with dead cells. This combination is formed beneath the surface of the skin where it is impossible to reach and be cleansed.

That is, poor hygiene can not lead directly to acne. Which in no way means not to wash your face twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, with a suitable gentle cleansing product. This will remove the bacteria that cause infections leading to the acne itself.

4. Cosmetics worsen things

The fact is that some cosmetic products clog the pores and cause pimples. But for a long time there have been non-comedogenic makeup and creams suitable for people suffering from acne. And there are such with ingredients that even treat the skin.

5. Picking

We have talked about picking before. Do not. Picking can induce bacteria deeper into the skin, leading to infection and redness.

And the more you press, the more you break the surrounding tissue and leave scars, which in turn easily into pigment spots ... It is always best to go to a dermatologist and trust his care.

6. Products

Many people still think that quantity means quality. In fact, the high number of products and procedures you apply daily do not guarantee results.

The simultaneous use of several anti-acne products - lotions, scrubs, creams, soaps, etc. - will only irritate the skin. And you will not know exactly what caused the problem, so that you can avoid it. A simple scheme with no more than 3 products is completely OK - cleaning, therapy, maintenance.

7. Stress

Another myth without scientific proof. Sure, yes, stress can worsen the existing acne, but it is not the cause of its appearance. It is a fact, however, that a stressed person more often picks his face, causing irritation and inflammation.

Stress may also increase the sebum secretion of the sebaceous glands, which is also a prerequisite for the growth of pimples and comedones.
